2nd European Cade Raid L’Hirondelle, Belguim from 4th to 7th of July 2008The 2nd European Cade Raid was a great success building on last years attendance. This year there were 20 Cavalcades on site and four Cavalcades that came for a day visit making 24 in total, also there was one GXS1100F and a Yamaha FJ900. The breakdown of countries was as follow:- Sweden four Cavalcades; Great Britain three Cavalcades & one GSX1100F; Belgium eight Cavalcades + 4 day visitors; Netherlands six Cavalcades and Germany one Cavalcade. Altogether 34 people attended over the three days.Friday was a meet the participants day and in the evening I gave the itinary for the weekend.Saturday morning there was instruction form Jan Van Lomberghen on how to make a windscreen for the Cavalcade. After this there was a 100 Km ride out for those who wanted to go on tour of the Ardennes led by Patrick Delvaux & Brenda Wijers and took in a motorcycle meeting place, here we stopped for a meal & a drink & the Citidel at Namour, then back to L’Hirondelle for the evening.Sunday was a free day for people to do as they pleased. Patrick & Brenda again led a ride out this time to an airfield for a air display by modern and vintage planes. Later, at the meeting, I thanked all the people for coming to the Cade Raid and selected a committee to represent the countries attending the Cade Raids. I ended the meeting by notifying all that the 2009 Cade Raid would be in Northern Germany and the one in 2010 would be in Sweden covering one week instead of three days.
