2nd European Cade Raid L’Hirondelle, Belguim from 4th to 7th of July 2008The2ndEuropeanCadeRaidwasagreatsuccessbuildingonlastyearsattendance.Thisyear therewere20CavalcadesonsiteandfourCavalcadesthatcameforadayvisitmaking24in total,alsotherewasoneGXS1100Fanda YamahaFJ900.Thebreakdownof countrieswasasfollow:-SwedenfourCavalcades;GreatBritainthree Cavalcades&oneGSX1100F;BelgiumeightCavalcades+4dayvisitors; NetherlandssixCavalcadesandGermanyoneCavalcade.Altogether 34 people attended over the three days.Friday was a meet the participants day and in the evening I gave the itinary for the weekend.SaturdaymorningtherewasinstructionformJanVanLomberghenonhowtomakeawindscreenfortheCavalcade.Afterthis therewasa100Kmrideoutforthosewhowantedtogoontourofthe ArdennesledbyPatrickDelvaux&BrendaWijersandtook inamotorcyclemeetingplace,herewestoppedforameal&adrink&theCitidelatNamour,thenbacktoL’Hirondelleforthe evening.Sundaywasafreedayforpeopletodoastheypleased.Patrick&Brendaagainledarideout thistimetoanairfieldforaairdisplaybymodernandvintageplanes.Later,atthemeeting,I thankedallthepeopleforcomingtotheCadeRaidandselectedacommitteetorepresentthe countriesattendingtheCadeRaids.Iendedthemeetingbynotifyingallthatthe2009Cade RaidwouldbeinNorthernGermanyandtheonein2010wouldbeinSwedencoveringoneweek instead of three days.
